Thanksgiving Unlocked!

“…when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” – Job 23:10 (NIV)

As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, let’s unlock the power of gratitude in our lives. We are introduced to the children of Israel, who grumbled and complained in the wilderness in Numbers 21:5. If this were a world news headline, it might have read “Ingratitude for Generations” because this was the second generation of complainers, forgetting God’s miracles and provision. The first is captured in Numbers 14:1-3.

This Thanksgiving – don’t let that be us!

We may be going through a ‘manna’ moment, yet this verse confirms God’s intent:

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come out like gold.” – Job 23:10

What a powerful reminder that:

  1. God knows our path – He’s aware of every step we take.
  2. Testing refines us – Trials purify us, making us stronger.
  3. Gold emerges – After refinement, our true character shines.

Trust God’s Sovereignty and refinement in your life! It’s the only way to unlock your testimonies. Do you have a Gratitude Book? This is a good moment to recall ten testimonies of God’s goodness: a healing, a breakthrough, a provision, a miracle.

As you reflect, ask: “So why do I worry now?” God’s faithfulness is consistent. I did this recently, and my Mom chuckled that I always seem to have a million-dollar issue — from paying off university fees with amnesty, to clearing credit card debt, or when construction hit a snag. Brethren: Jesus came through every time!

This is why we must intentionally enter God’s presence with thanksgiving in our hearts and into His courts with praise. Gratitude is not just a feeling, but a choice! Thanksgiving is not optional; it’s a lifestyle of appreciation and acknowledgement of provision, protection, healing, and the Holy Ghost’s favour.

When we choose gratitude, we position ourselves for greater joy, intimacy with God, and revelation of what He, as Alpha, planned, and what He, as Omega, knows. Let’s unlock gratitude in our hearts, let it overflow into our daily lives. Happy Thanksgiving!
